Enriching communities, expanding opportunities

When we see an opportunity to make a difference, we take it. This means making an impact on our communities and supporting them in ways that can help them flourish, develop, and prosper. It's all part of living up to our purpose while helping others live up to their potential.

Our giving philosophy

Lending our financial expertise, empowering our employees to give back and being a good neighbor in times of need.

Investing in Community-Based Financial Education

When it comes to financial literacy, we recognize a gap exists in the system and we believe it’s our role as a leading provider of financial education to close that gap. Together with the National 4-H Council, we’re bringing financial empowerment and education to young people and families across the country. Our collaboration with 4-H, the nation’s largest youth development organization, invests in the development of a suite of research-backed financial literacy resources for educators everywhere. Developed in tandem with 4-H and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, these resources guide educators through university-developed curricula that teach behavior changing methods, social emotional skills development, leadership and career readiness. These resources will be available to educators nationwide, and delivered in 4-H financial literacy education programs across the country.

Rock the Street, Wall Street

We also team up with Rock the Street, Wall Street, a financial and investment literacy program designed to spark the interest of high school girls into careers of finance. Since 2015, more than 300 of our female financial professionals across six cities, have served as teachers and mentors with the program, motivating the next generation to not only become more financially literate, but inspire them to follow career paths in the financial sector.

By lending our people and expertise, we can help youth build the foundational skills and confidence they need to invest in themselves and in their futures.

Empowering our Employees to Give Back

Our culture is rich in charitable spirit and we want our employees to engage in their communities and give back to the causes that matter most to them. Employees are not only encouraged – they are incentivized to give back.

Volunteer Paid Time Off

Each employee receives eight hours of paid time off each year to volunteer for the charity or organization of his or her choice. That's a total of over 72,000 employee hours to give back to communities.

Dollars for Doers

To add to the impact, our Dollars for Doers program provides monetary volunteer grants to eligible nonprofit organizations where employees volunteer. Each hour volunteered equals charity dollars earned.

Matching Gifts

We also support employee giving through our Corporate Matching Gifts program, which has a multiplier effect in making a difference in the lives of others.

Community Grants

To further amplify the passions of our employees, our Community Grants program gives them an opportunity to nominate and vote for local organizations making a difference in their community. The program funds organizations committed to addressing social and/or environmental needs in the communities surrounding TD Ameritrade's corporate and branch locations. For Spring 2020, the program also invited organizations to request grant money to support needs created by COVID-19. In this year's inaugural grant cycle, TD Ameritrade Community Grants awarded 34 organizations a total of $850,000 dollars.

See the full comprehensive listing of the selected organizations and their mission statements.

Grant awards are based on an employee voting process.

Before applying, please read our Funding Guidelines and Policies to ensure your organization fits within our program parameters, and view our Getting Started: Registering in GrantsConnect document.

The 2020 grant application period is now closed. The 2021 application period will open in early March 2021.

Disaster Relief

Our approach to natural disaster relief focuses on planning ahead - providing financial support before disaster strikes. As a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, our annual up front financial commitment ensures the Red Cross can respond immediately whenever and wherever help is needed.

American Red Cross

In addition to corporate financial support, our employees generously donate lifesaving blood during company organized blood drives, as well as participate in organized volunteer opportunities to help local communities recovering from disaster.
